Production nurseries

As a Despatch Coordinator, you will oversee and actively contribute to despatch operations at Knoxbrooke Nursery. Working alongside a team of Supported Employees, Nursery Workers, Training & Support Officers and Employment Coaches, you will ensure orders are efficiently prepared, checked, and delivered to meet customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily despatch activities, including picking, preparing, and labelling plants for sale.
  • Review orders and pick lists, ensuring resources are allocated appropriately.
  • Set up work areas to support team members’ needs and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Supervise and lead team members to achieve high-quality output and order accuracy.
  • Monitor stock quality, address issues with the Despatch Manager or Sales team, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Support team training and provide clear, effective supervision in an inclusive environment.
  • Contribute to general nursery work, including plant maintenance, stock organisation, and pest/disease monitoring

This is a hands-on role requiring strong organisation, attention to detail, and a collaborative leadership approach to ensure efficient and high-quality despatch operations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re seeking a positive and proactive individual with:

  • Experience in a despatch or scheduling role within a wholesale nursery (essential).
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to guide a diverse team.
  • A detail-oriented mindset, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and make informed decisions.
  • Physical fitness for a fast-paced, hands-on role.
  • Enthusiasm for working in an inclusive environment and engaging with people of diverse abilities
  • Certificate III or greater in Horticulture (preferred).
  • Chemical users’ certificate (preferred).
  • Plant identification skills and nursery equipment operation (tractors, buggies).
  • Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Familiarity with Evergreen Connect Inventory system (preferred).
  • Current Victorian driver’s licence (manual preferred) and forklift licence (preferred).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination or authorised medical exemption.
  • Willingness to undertake an NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Evidence of the right to work in Australia.
